Coming back from Iceland with more than 5000 pictures, it took me a while to go through them all and reduce the list to my 15 favorites. Iceland is so beautiful it was easy to take good photos. Although because of the weather I was not alays able to caputre the majesty of the places, for example the waterfall of Gullfoss. I hope those 15 shots will inspire you to discover Iceland, they sure make me want to come back!

1. The Sun Voyager

3. Fjallsarlon lagoon

less know than Jokulsarlon, Fjallsarlon is another lagoon at the feet of a glacier. It is not always filled with icebergs, but I was very lucky! More info on the Fjallsarlon lagoon post
4. Vestrahorn
Why I love this photo
This is one of my most dramatic pictures. I did not have a wide angle for my 7D so I had to settle for the panoramic function of the iPhone and it did a good job! (Taken with: iPhone 5c)

5. Jokulsarlon lagoon

6. On Road 1, South Iceland
Why I love this photo
This was taken from a moving bus. I like the sense of scale given by the car and the feeling of mystery created by the clouds. (Taken with: Panasonic DMC-TZ40)

On the Ring Road in South Iceland there is a section which is aligned with a glacier. If you are driving west it is spectacular. If you are driving east, do not forget to turn around! More info on the guide to South Iceland post
7. On Road F208 through Central Highlands

8. Icelandic horse

9. Kirkjufell and its waterfall
Why I love this photo
The drama of the sky, the movement of water. This is my first time using HDR. I might have been overboard with the merging but it is a good start 🙂 (Taken with: Canon 7D)

10. Sunset at Godafoss

11. Lake Myvatn pseudo-craters
Why I love this photo
I love the softness of this photo: the reflection of the clounds and the herbs at the foreground. It represents very well what I was feeling at the time. (Taken with: Canon 7D)

12. Dimmuborgir
Why I love this photo
I know my post-processing created a ghost shadown around the rock, but I still love it for its drama (Taken with: Canon 7D)

13. Heart of the Trollaskagi peninsula

15. Jokulsarlon Beach
Why I love this photo
I was playing with ND filters and most photos are horrible. I like the softness feeling behind that one and the contrast of the dark iceberg versus the blue one (Taken with: Canon 7D)
