Wow did I waste a bit of time the past two years. This is beyond amazing. You have every site I planned to visit plus so much more. The added stops you have listed will make my trip a fairytale delight. You have done a superb job!

CORSICA TRAVEL GUIDE

If have just stumbled on to your website via Pinterest. We are planning a six week trip in August / September starting in Scotland for two weeks, a week in Perpignan with family (which is already booked) and then we have 2.5 weeks left where we can’t decide whether to go to Spain, Portugal, Corsica or Sardinia, before we fly back to London for a few days, to see our son, before flying home to Australia. With your wealth of travel experience what would you recommend for our 2.5 weeks in Europe? Thanks in advance

Wow. What a trip! Great for you 🙂
This is a difficult choice.
If you are looking for incredible architectural pieces, I recommend Spain or Portugal. But with Spain you would have a lot of driving, because it is big.
If you are looking for incredible landscapes mixing mountains and beaches, then Corsica. I am personally going to Corsica in May and I can’t wait.
But if you want a more relax trip, then Sardinia would be your choice.
It really depends on what you are looking for.
My personal choice would be: 1st choice Corsica and 2nd choice Portugal.
I wish you a wonderful trip!

Thank you so much for your quick reply. Your comments nailed it for us and we have decided to spend the bulk of our time in Corsica. We will travel from Perpignan to Barcelona for a couple of days before catching the ferry to Corsica, with a possible side trip to Sardinia. We have a lot of travelling years ahead of us as we transition to retirement so plenty of time to see it all down the track. Thanks again for your recommendations. I will follow your Corsica trip with delight. Happy travels 🙂

I love these!! Thank you for the ideas and potential plans.
Question: Do you have a day trip plan for wineries? Or places to go for champagne? I see your recommendation but i don’t see a way to plan it out like your other guides. And Google maps isn’t much help to me here in the states:/
And what about the northern coast? Any recommendation on hitting some cute towns in a day?
We will be in Paris and willing to drive up north for the spectacular views.
Thanks!

Hi Christine,
My Paris / France Guide is not yet about roadtripping (except Corsica). I want to add regions, but so far I have not gotten around to doing it.
For wineries or Champagne, I think it is best to to be driving, so the organized tours are great options.
There are so many opportunities to see in France, this is difficult to curate. Plus I have not visited many myself. So I am sorry, but I don’t have any tips at the moment.
Regarding the Northern coast, if you are willing to drive I think Etretat is the most spectacular place with the charming village and the cliffs.
Honfleur is also often a favorite. No cliffs, but a village with a lot of charm.
And of course, one of the most spectacular places is Mont Saint-Michel. But you have to drive a bit more. And not far is Saint-Malo which I love.
But it depends on your definition of spectacular…
I wish you wonderful travels!

Bonjour Claire, My partner and I are planning a several week trip to southwestern France at the end of August 2020. We intend to start on Bordeaux and spend a few days there getting acclimatized before meeting friends in St. Cirque la Popie for a few days. Then the two of us intend to explore the Périgord region for a week or so. We were thinking of renting a place as a base for exploring in Sarlat. I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading about the area so some of the things we would like to do would be visit some of the ancient cave painting sites, see some of the medieval fortifications, maybe some gardens, and doing a few easy walks. Can you recommend some other possible things to do?

Bonjour John
I am sorry, but, at the moment, this is not one of the French regions I know well.
I wish you wonderful travels !
