Top 5 Best Andalucia Beaches - Map
Below is a map to help you get oriented and:
- locate my top 5 beaches
- locate the different coastlines of Andalucia - My favorites in terms of scenery are Cabo de Gata and Costa de la Luz.
The 4 main Andalucia coastlines
The littoral of Andalucia is cut into different "coats" that offer very different experiences. The most famous 4 are:
- Cabo de Gata
East of Almeria
Cabo de Gata is a protected park for those who enjoy nature and more preserved volcanic landscapes. Many beaches with no facilities. - Costa de la Luz (coast of light)
The coast of the Cadiz province, east of Cadiz to Tarifa
Stunning fine sand beaches with dunes, wind and plenty of history.
West of Cadiz, the sand and dunes continue in the Huelva province, also named Costa de la Luz. - Costa del Sol (coast of the sun)
Around Malaga and Marbella, with great reliable weather.
The most touristic beaches in Andalucia with sand, fun activities and glamorous locations. - Costa Tropical
Coast of the Granada province, around Motril.
Mostly pebbly beaches with great weather all year around (subtropical climate)

7+ Best Beaches in Cabo de Gata
#1 - Playa de los Muertos
- Location -
North of Cabo de Gata Park, Just South of Carboneras
Almeria to Los Muertos = 50min drive - Why visit -
It is one of the most famous beaches in the area with a straight beach over 1 km.
And you can see how straight it is from the viewpoint! Plus, it is known to have the bluest water in the area...
The most recognizable element is the huge rocks in the middle of the sand (on the right side). - Beach type -
Sand and rocks - Access -
Easy drive to the carpark (for a fee in Summer) but limited spaces.
Easy walk to the viewpoint - but hike down to reach the beach, thus climbing back up after... (plan 2 hours to loop + explore the beach) - Facilities / Good to know -
