Jervis Bay Cruise and Dolphins - Australia - Travel Guide

INFO & PLANNING TIPS - Jervis Bay

If you are planning a stay in Sydney, Australia, I would recommend driving down there for a few days. Another option if you are short in time or do not have a car is to book a day tour to get a glimpse of this amazing place.

Tour to reach Jervis Cruise

I reach Jervis Cruise with Mount'n Beach Safari on their South Coast Sea Cliffs Tour. You can check the full review on my post about the South Coast Day Tour.

Cruising company

Once at Jervis Bay, we discovered it on a cruise:

  • Company: Dolphin Watch Cruises
  • 2 hour dolphin and coast
  • Boat: Boat in Good condition. However when it is full, it might be hard to get all around to see things
  • Staff: great staff (Bindi and John), they were full of enthousiam, knowledgeable and passionate
  • Note: I selected myself and paid fully for this tour that I did beginning of 2014. Opinions are my own

How to discover Jervis Bay

There are many path to reach different spots along the bay. However with the time constraint of the day tour we did it on a boat. From what I understood we were supposed to go on the big boat with only a dolphin watch but lucky us, they had a big group and moved us to the Jet Boat to see dolphins and explore the coast. Here is the boat.

Watching Dolphins

Jervis Bay as a resident pod of more than 80 dolphins. We found some of them after 20 min and had a wonderful time as they swam around the boat. And again lucky us, we were only 11 so plenty of space to move around and see them. Here are some of my favorite shots. (advice: bring plenty of memory card!)

And our luck was not over, some of the dolphins started jumping further away. Incredible! How crazy is that to see wild dolphins jumping??? (Sorry for the quality of the picture but I had no time to set up properly and wanted to watch it.)

Then we left the dolphins to move further along the Bay. First we sailed along the white sand beaches

Then we discovered a part of the bay that is harder to reach on foot and for me who loves rock formations and the work of erosion it was magnificent.

Doesn't it look like paradise?

I missed Jervis Bay. My sis visited it when she was in Sydney. After seeing her pictures and what I see here on your blog, I think should have made it there. Next time, maybe.

I didn’t manage to stop here on my travels but it looks like I missed out! I would have loved to have seen dolphins in the wild.
