I had been dreaming about Namibia for 2 long years before I finally traveled there in October 2012. It has been now more than 9 months and I still have sparkles in my eyes!
I had anticipated it, dreamed it, bothered people with it and this country has not disappointed me. It has all that I love:
- Amazing colorful sceneries
- Desert
- Wild animals that you can observe very well because there is not much vegetation
- Vast areas without a soul
- And not many tourists
The first chance I had to get 2 & 1/2 weeks off work, I looked for an organized small group tour of 2 weeks in Namibia and I found Wild Dog Safaris. They run several safaris which can be booked back to back. So I chose the 14 day Namibian experience which starts from Windhoek and includes the 7 day South tour and the 7 day North tour. And bonus, the tours are camping trips! Building the tent every night and packing every morning. Yeah! As a nature lover, camping is for me the best way to travel. (see the detailed review of my tour)
Although the very first animal I saw while getting to my hotel was a cow, the trip was a real success with great organization, interesting people and constant amazement! I am really excited to start sharing all my stories about it with you.
And I got a lot more than I expected:
Here are few photos to give you a taste of what there is to come:
In the coming posts I will share with you my experiences at Sossusvlei, the Kalahari desert, Etosha National Park and much more. To read the whole story, follow the link.

Love the picture of the hungry leopard! Phenomenal! If you have any thoughts on Wild Dog Safari’s you’d like to share, I would love to hear them. I’m considering travelling with them in a few months.
Thanks, and keep writing!

Thanks for your comment Lena. This is one of my favorite picture. I will tell you all about this experience in a future post. Just for info it was at the very beginning of the second week of my trip, to North Namibia.
To answer your request, I’ve just wrote a post with a review of my trip with Wild Dog Safari: https://www.zigzagonearth.com/detailed-review-of-2-week-namibian-experience-with-wild-dog-safari/
I hope this helps.
