Visiting Lanzarote in 7 days - essentials to know
Is a week too long in Lanzarote? and is it enough?
7 days are certainly enough time to get a good taste of the island and enjoy some of its most popular sights and experiences.
During a seven-day itinerary, you can explore Lanzarote stunning landscapes: beaches, villages, volcanoes, architecture by Cesar Manrique, caves...
You can see most of what the island has to offer if you go out for most of the day.
It is not too long. There is plenty to do!
I think it is totally worth it, if you are flying from Europe. Compare available flights.

Do you need a car?
With 7 days, I strongly recommend renting a car for several reasons:
- to explore everything at your own time
- to visit the fascinating off the beaten path places
- to watch sunrise or sunset
Don't worry, driving in Lanzarote is really easy. Read my article about it.

Need to rent a car? My tips:
- Compare car rental prices on my favorite platform: Discovercars.com - one of the best customer-rated comparison sites!
- Choose the car and company you prefer (with enough power for steep roads)
- Consider their full coverage option - I always take it for peace of mind!
- This is an island, so the number of cars is limited. Book early to have a large choice of vehicles!
See my 36 tips about renting a car in Lanzarote.
However, if you really don't want to drive, I have a section on Lanzarote without a car further down.

One of my rental cars in Lanzarote
One week in Lanzarote: where to stay
Where to stay in Lanzarote for 7 days?
The island is not large. You can easily stay in just one location and explore the entire island.
Here are my favorite places to stay depending on your criteria:

- see best rated hotels - Coastal Charm and Quiet = Punta Mujeres
- see best rated hotels - Romantic = El Golfo
- see best rated hotels - Resort town with most activities = Puerto del Carmen
- see best rated hotels - Without a car = your best options are the 3 resort towns (Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen) because most excursions and activities are available from all 3

My ideal 7-day Lanzarote itinerary map
To help you get oriented, here is a map of the areas covered with this itinerary.
The order of the 7 days really does not matter, I just tried to alternative beach volcanoes and cultural experiences.

Map of my ideal 7-day Lanzarote itinerary
Driving times each of the 7 days in Lanzarote
I have tried to balanced as best as possible the itinerary.
If you are based in Puerto del Carmen, it will take the following driving times, in several small jumps:
- Day 1 = 1h drive
- Day 2 = 2h30 drive
- Day 3 = 1h30 drive
- Day 4 = 1h30 drive
- Day 5 = 1h30 drive
- Day 6 = 2h drive
- Day 7 = it depends
And if you are based in another town, driving time will be longer some days and shorter others, but it should never vary more than 1h.
Best things to do in Lanzarote over a week - planning your own

The following itinerary includes all my favorite places and things to do (see my complete list).
But if you want to create your own, I think the things you should not miss during your trip:
- Walk around and inside Montana Cuervo
- Visit Timanfaya National Park
- Hike to Papagayo beach and admire the landscapes
- Be amazed by the creativity in Jameos del Agua
- Head underground in Cueva de los Verdes
- Learn how wine is made in Lanzarote
- Go on a Cactus frenzy at the Cactus garden
- ...
And you can find all those stops and more, with practical information (maps, driving times, difficulty to access) in my eBook:
Plan your perfect trip around Lanzarote!
- 7 easy-to-plan maps
- 55 Scenic locations in Lanzarote
- 19 Scenic locations in Fuerteventura

- 140+ large photos to decide where to go
- GPS coordinates direct to the carparks
Day 1 - South Lanzarote: Papagayo and Playa Blanca
Driving time if staying in Puerto del Carmen = 1h30
Stop 1 - Hike to Papagayo beach

One of the most famous places in Lanzarote is Papagayo beach. Located on the South Coast, it is the most ancient part of the island. The small cove has a beautiful shape and emerald waters.
There is no paved roads to get there, only a very bumpy track (where you are normally not allowed to go with rental cars).
The other option is to walk from Playa Blanca to Papagayo (along other beaches) which is a great walk.
It is a 2km walk going a little up and own. No share on the hike.
Better to enjoy the beach in the morning before the heat and the crowds.
Learn more.
Stop 2 - Take you time admiring the views around Papagayo beach

You will see several beaches along the way where you can stop. But the most famous one is the last one: Papagayo.
You can stake the stairs down to the sand or walk around to admire the views, with the peaks of Los Ajaches in the background.
Absolutely stunning!
Stop 3 - Playa Blanca

Then you can walk along the promenade of Playa Blanca and enjoy one of the many restaurants (if you are back for lunch).
Playa Blanca is my favorite coastal town. I enjoyed the vibe here.
Stop 4 - Montana Roja, if you have the energy

If you are less interested by the town or still have a lot of energy, I recommend an off-the-beaten path activity: Climbing Montana Roja.
Overlooking Playa Blanca, Montana Roja (the red mountain, due to its colour) is a volcanic crater towering at 194 m (626ft).
A nice walk takes you to the top and around the rim with great views of the South end of Lanzarote.
On a clear day, you can also appreciate views of the Lobos Island and the North coast of Fuerteventura.
Day 2 - Timanfaya and other volcanic features
Driving time if staying in Puerto del Carmen = 2h30
Stop 1 - Timanfaya National Park

The most famous activity in Lanzarote is the coach tour inside Timanfaya National Park (see my Timanfaya guide).
Located on the west coast, it is one of the best parts of the island, the most scenic. It is entirely made up of volcanic soil.
There are not many ways to experience it. The main one is the coach tour through the one road in the park. You can't get out of the bus so as to protect the park, but you get to see some of the most unique views you could imagine. It is like visiting another planet!
You head there with your car, park next t the restaurant and climb on one of the tour bus!
Again I recommend visiting in the morning to have lesser crowds.
Stop 2 - Eat at El Diablo, the volcanic restaurant

At the restaurant, you will find a souvenir shop and facilities. If it is lunch time you can see them cooking with the heat coming from the Earth (geothermal heat). The restaurant is another one of César Manrique's attractions in Lanzarote.
Just outside are 2 demonstrations of how hot it is under the Earth Crust:
- The fun one is when they throw water in the hole and it erupts in a steam geyser
- The other one is when dry bush takes on fire because of the geothermal heat.
Stop 3 - Visit the Timanfaya Visitor Center

If you want to learn more about the volcanic nature of Lanzarote, head to the visitor center; it is outside the park.
I recommend a visit to the center during the hottest hours of the day.
It is a great way to cool down and learn more about the fascinating world that surrounds it.
You have a scale representation of the park and the alignment of volcanoes.
And then you have photos and explanation about the geology of the area, the history or eruptions and how flora and fauna come back after such a cataclysmique event.
Stop 4 - The Green Lagoon (Charco Verde)

On my way to Charco verde, all I was expecting was to see a green lagoon. But what remains of the volcano behind is also stunning. There is a mix of red, yellow and black rocks which have been beautifully shaped by erosion. Plus all that is combined with a black beach and a practical viewpoint. A great short stop and one of the great things to do in Lanzarote.
Sadly, I think none of my pictures give justice to this landscape. You will have to see it for yourself!
Learn more.
Stop 5 - Los Hervideros

One of my favorite landscapes on Lanzarote was at Los Hervideros. I really enjoyed the mix of turquoise water, dark basalt columns and the small red volcanic hill behind. I just sat there to watch. It was the perfect mix for my taste.
A path has been set up to explore those amazing cliffs and even see below one of the arches. This is a fun and easy short walk.
It is located on the West Coast, South of Timanfaya National Park and the views are best at high tide, where maybe you will see the waves crashing.
Learn more
Stop 6 - The Salt Pans

I have always loved salt pans, the shapes, the colours and the small white cones of salt. On the west coast of Lanzarote, you can find the Janubios Salinas. In that amazing landscape, it is quite a sight!
I recommend just driving around to find beautiful views.
I don't drink coffee
But I like other drinks and foods!

Day 3 - Cactus, Caves and more
Driving time if staying in Puerto del Carmen = 1h30
Stop 1 - Picon Valley

There is nothing official about this location. It is an abandoned quarry.
But the erosion is creating amazing rock structures that photographers will love.
The picon formations left standing are made of small volcanic ashes and fragile but fascinating with the volcanoes behind.
A great place to see with the early morning light.
GPS coordinates in my eBook.
Stop 2 - Jardin de Cactus

A garden filled with cacti!!!! yeah!!! I really love those funny and varied plants. This is my favorite of all the best places to visit in Lanzarote.
The Cactus Garden is the work of famous architect and artist Cesar Manrique. He imagined how the transform this ancient rofera (a quarry) into a display of the most beautiful cactaceae flowers from all over the world. It has around 1500 specimens of 450 different species representing the 5 continents. (see my Cactus Garden article for more photos)
Stop 3 - Jameos del Agua

I think this was one of the most frustrating things in Lanzarote. This swimming pool in Jameos des Agua is so inviting!!! Don't you think? And I love water
In this place, César Manrique transformed part of a long lava tunnel which had collapsed in several location. There is an underground lake, restaurants, and amphitheater...
You can have lunch inside the cave!
See more photos
Stop 4 - Cueva de los Verdes (Green Caves)

This picture was taken in Cueva de los Verdes. Jesus Soto set up lights in the lava tunnel to create a fascinating experience. I am not going to say too much, because I risk spoiling the surprise. But I was very impressed by the experience at the end!
But if you suffer from claustrophobia and vertigo, this is not the place for you.
See more photos.
Stop 5 - Punta Mujeres

And finish the day at the charming coastal village of Punta Mujeres.
Easily accessed from the main road, it feels integrated between the Earth and the Sea. A lot of small white houses, some fishing boats and several rock pools that fill in at high tide allowing you to refresh.
It has a laid-back vibe and some inviting little eateries.
Day 4 - Montana Cuervo and more volcanic wonders
Driving time if staying in Puerto del Carmen = 1h30
Stop 1 - Hike around and inside Montana Cuervo

I completed many walks on the island. But my absolute favorite is actually one of the easiest and (sadly busiest) ones: Montana Cuervo.
Located in the Lanzarote Los Volcanes Natural Park (with surrounds Timanfaya), is it easily accessed by road.
You first walk facing the whole volcano, with great views of a well-preserved cone. Around you is lava in many shapes. Signs help you understand the landscapes around you and the geological history of the volcano.
Then the path allows you to circle it as well as enter inside from one side which has collapsed.
Plan 1 to 2 hour, depending on how much of the tour you do and how many pictures you take.
There is no shade, so bring water and wear good shoes.
Stop 2 - Montana Colorada lava bomb

Another great place to see in Lanzarote is Montana Colorada (the colorful mountain). It is another walk that takes you all around the volcano with signs explaining what you see. One side of the volcano is a vibrant red, hence its name.
Apart for the colour, Colorada is also famous for having the biggest volcanic bomb (projected by the volcano during the eruption) on the island. It is massive. Sadly there were nobody around where I walked (early morning) to I can't give you a sense of scale.
You don't have to complete the entire walk, you can just walk to the bomb and track back.
Stop 3 - Volcanic Vineyards

There are several wineries you can visit with tastings and/or museums.
It is quite impressive to see those plants growing on the black soil when there is nothing else around.
The most famous is La Geria, but mu favorite is El Grifo with its small museum.
Stop 4 - Teguise

If you are looking for an historical vibe, then Teguise is a great choice. It used to be the capital of Lanzarote and it has kept its charm.
Walking in the small streets of the center with the white houses is really enjoyable. Most of the time it is really quiet, but it gets busy on Sunday for the market.
Stop 5 - Sunset at Famara Beach

It is well known, that one of the best places to see sunset in Lanzarote is at Famara Beach. And where I saw that the conditions were going to be good, I jumped in the car and headed there. I was not disappointed!
The large beach has reflection of the impressive Famara cliffs hit by the setting sun.
It is one fo the best photography locations in Lanzarote with silhouette of surfers and light plays.
But you won't be the only photographer around.
Need to rent a car in Lanzarote?
Day 5 - La Graciosa and the North coast
Driving time if staying in Puerto del Carmen = 1h30
Stop 1 - Ferry from Orzola

Drive to Orzola to take the ferry.
La Graciosa is a small island Located North of Lanzarote. You access it by ferry and there are not roads at all, just tracks in the sand. So you explore it either on foot or with one of the 4WD taxis.
Contrary to Lanzarote it is covered by white sand. But it also have a few volcanoes. The colours are stunning and you can enjoy different landscapes: Beaches, volcanoes and basalt columns.
Even the ferry ride is fascinating with great views of the Famara cliffs of North Lanzarote.
Stop 2 - Explore La Graciosa

Playa La Conchas

Playa Francesa
Once on the island you have several options:
- Walk to one location only such as Playa Francesa
- Use one of the 4WD taxis to get somewhere and arrange a pick-up later to return
- Choose a tour of the island with one of the 4WD taxi - they will include Playa Francesa, Playa La Conchas, Caleton de los Arcos, Pedra Barba
Some of my favorite stops are: Playa Francesa, Playa de Las Conchas, Caleton de los Arcos (lava arch).
Stop 3 - Take the ferry back

Enjoy the beautiful sail back!
Stop 4 - The caletones of the north coast

Caleton Blanco Lagoon
If you still have some energy, along the North coast (easy stops as you drive back), you can admire the caletones with one lagoon, and very dark rocks contrasting with the white sand.
Day 6 - César Manrique magic
Driving time if staying in Puerto del Carmen = 2h
Stop 1 - César Manrique Foundation

The César Manrique foundation has established its headquarters in a dwelling designed by him and where he lived for 20 years.
It is built in harmony with a lava coulee formed during the famous Lanzarote eruptions between 1730 and 1736. Inspiring rooms have been set up in volcanic bubbles and connected by tunnels.
Exploring the place is a fun experience but you get frustrated again not to be able to swim in the beautiful swimming pool...
At the end you can enjoy the exhibition hall with paintings and the lava entering the window.
Plan time to also enjoy the garden and its sculptures.
Stop 2 - LagOmar

LagOmar is one of the Lanzarote's most spectacular private properties.
Imagined by César Manrique and designed by Jesus Soto, it was built in a quarry with natural tunnels and caves. It is quite a labyrinth to explore!
In the 70s, Oman Sharif came to Lanzarote while filming "the Mysterious island" and bought it.
In the 90s it was enhanced by architects from Germany and Uruguay with flora, reclaimed wood beams and many other material.
Today it can be visited as a museum.
Learn more on my article.
Stop 3 - Mirador del Rio

Located on the Risco de Famara, the viewpoint overlooks the island of La Graciosa at an altitude of over 475m.
It used to be a military fort from the 19th century.
César Manrique transformed it in the 70s to be camouflaged in the rocks and to offer incredible views of the cliff, the island, and the stretch of sea in between called El rio.
At the bottom of the cliffs, you can also see the salt pans of Salinas del Rio.
The inside building with the white walls and curve offer great framing to the beautiful landscapes.
Stop 4 - César Manrique's House Museum

Located in the Northern town of Haria, the house is located in the Palm grove. So if you are missing the presence of trees around you, this is a good place to go.
César Manrique used to live in where the foundation is (#4) but in 1986 he began building a new home at a farmhouse. He lived there until his death in 1992.
Today it is a museum where furniture and items have been kept as they were. You can also enter his studio and see how he worked.
However, because this place is more about his intimacy and less about his work, this was my least favorite of the Lanzarote Attractions related to César Manrique.
Learn more about Cesar Manrique and the island of Lanzarote.
Day 7 - 5 options depending on your interests
Depending on your preference, here are 5 options:
Option 1 - Lounging on a beach

Beach in Puerto del Carmen
Just relax at one of the beaches in Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen ou bien Costa Teguise.
You will have all you may need within 5min walk.
Option 2 - Fun activity

You can find many fun experience to have in Lanzarote.
For exemple, buggy experiences to be able to discover the islands off road. It is a lot of fun and giving access to different views. Check out this 3h-tour in Tandem buggy.
See my complete list of favorite activities further down in the article.
Option 3 - Explore off the beaten path

Explore smaller villages where tourists don't go a lot.
For example:
- Tenesar with its red crabs against the black lava rocks, sometimes referred to as the 'lost village' of Lanzarote.
- Playa Quemada with its pebble beach and seafood tiny restaurants by the water (with seafood tapas)
- ...
Option 4 - add a hike

Los Rodeos
If you love hiking around volcanoes, you can add another hike to your week. For exemple:
- climb to the top of another volcano for great views: Los Rodeos
- walk around the white one such as Montana Blanca
- La Corona in North Lanzarote. It reaches 609meters.
Option 5 - Town of Arrecife

If you enjoy towns you can go explore Arrecife with its market, beach and fort.
You can find all those stops and more, with practical information (maps, driving times, difficulty to access) in my eBook:
Plan your perfect trip around Lanzarote!
- 7 easy-to-plan maps
- 55 Scenic locations in Lanzarote
- 19 Scenic locations in Fuerteventura
- Planning tips + Best times
- 140+ large photos to decide where to go
- GPS coordinates direct to the carparks
Option 2 - Lanzarote without a car 7-day-itinerary
Where to stay in Lanzarote if you don't have a car
your best options are the 3 resort towns (Playa Blanca, Costa Teguise and Puerto del Carmen) because most excursions and activities are available from all 3.
However, I think Puerto del Carmen has the largest offer. I have created the following itinerary for people staying in Puerto del Carmen.
For example:
- Luxury hotel
Lani's suite de Luxe in Puerto del Carmen (adults only) - clean, crisp design, amazing swimming pool
Check out photos and availability - All inclusive
Seaside Los Jameos in Puerto del Carmen - lots of charm in the decor, great Garden
Check out photos and availability
Day 1 - Relaxing day
Start your trip slowly. Relax at the beach, enjoy the sun and enjoy the laid-back vibes of Lanzarote.
Day 2 - Timanfaya National Park, volcanoes and wine

The Timanfaya National Park is the top excursion in Lanzarote. It is absolutely stunning!
It is a national park and you can't wander around by yourself. But even in groups, it is fantastic to see the colors and the power of the Earth. The Timanfaya National Park is located on the west coast of the island and it is entirely made up of Volcanic soil.
There are full day tours that take you to Timanfaya to do the bus tour but drive you also to the Coast south of the Park (my tip: sit on the right side of the bus in the National Park). I think it is absolutely worth it. The green lagoon of El Golfo and the incredible coastline of Los Hervideros were some of my favorite spots on the island.
The colors there are simply unbelievable. The lava as well as the erosion have created beautiful shapes. I just sat there and enjoyed the view.
I really recommend booking the combined tour to be able to see them.
Day 3 - Cesar Manrique

Al Campesino
Lanzarote is also famous for being the home of architect and artist César Manrique.
He loved above all integrating architecture with the natural environment. It is thanks to him that there are no big developments on the island and that it retains so much charm with all those small white houses.
There are excursions that take you to the North of the island to discover several of the Cesar Manrique creations. They can include:
- Cactus Garden with hundreds of species of cactus and great views of the area from the windmill
- Jameos del agua - part of the architectural ensemble was designed by Cesar Manrique. It is fun to explore and watch the small white crabs in the lake. But I must admit it is quite frustrating not to be able to swim in that incredible pool!!!
- The Cesar Manrique Fondation with some of his art pieces. It is his former residence and it integrates with the lava
- Mirador des Rio and its amazing views over La Graciosa
- Monumento al Campesino. Great to photograph but not as fascinating as the other places you will see on this tour
One of my favorite includes a little bit of everything Cesar Manrique - see program and availability + book
Day 4 - Relaxing day

Parasailing
You can again enjoy a relaxing day at the beach.
And you can spend a few hours doing a fun activity such as:
- Sunset sunset cruise with dolphin watching
- see availability + book - Parasailing
- Buggy riding
- see availability + book - Scuba Diving
- see availability + book - Stand-up Paddle
- see availability + book
Day 5 - La Graciosa

La Graciosa was one of my favorite stops on my trip to Lanzarote.
It is a small island to the North of Lanzarote and it has no roads. Contrary to Lanzarote, it offers beautiful white sand beaches. A trip there, will give you yet another appreciation of the canary islands.
An organized tour will pick you up and get your to Orzola, where you will board the ferry to La Graciosa.
Once at La Graciosa you will board a catamaran to admire the islands from the water and enjoy lunch. Then you can enjoy free time on La Graciosa itself.
Day 6 - Relaxing day

You can again enjoy a relaxing day at the beach.
And you can spend a few hours doing a fun activity such as:

Day 7 - Papagayo Beach
If you are staying in Puerto del Carmen, you can enjoy a catamaran cruise and admire the coast and the beaches from the boat. It includes lunch on the boat.
Pick up available from all major hotels to take you to Puerto Calero where the boat sails.
Option 3 - 7 days of beaches in Lanzarote
If you are visiting Lanzarote to enjoy the beaches, the sun and the warm waters, no problems!
You can stay the entire time at the beaches near your hotel in one of the main towns:
- Playa Blanca - see best-rated accommodations
- Costa Teguise - see best-rated accommodations
- Puerto del Carmen - see best-rated accommodations
There are some nice beaches at the 3 resort towns for you to relax and enjoy with all the amenities.
For exemple:

Beach in Puerto del Carmen

Beach in Playa Blanca

Beach in Costa Teguise
But you can also rent a car and explore other stunning beaches for some fo the days.
Here is what it could look like:
Day 1 - Beaches where you are staying
Today, relax where you are staying.
Day 2 - Beaches of Papagayo

Head South to the Papagayo beaches.
With 2 km east of Plana Blanca, you can enjoy a series of beautiful beaches such as:
- Papagayo - the most famous, at the end of the walk or track
Stunning coves with beautiful views (including the one in the picture above) - Playa del Pozo - as a large golden sand area and beautiful rocks to photograph.
With the steep cliffs at both end, you can find area to be protected from the wind and find a little bit of shade - Playa Mujeres - It is a 400m long stretch of golden sand with turquoise water. A carpark has been set up right by the beach. And it is the closest one on foot from Playa Blanca.
Day 3 - Beaches where you are staying
Today, relax where you are staying.
Day 4 - Beaches of La Graciosa

Playa Francesa
Drive to Orzola to take the ferry.
La Graciosa is a small island Located North of Lanzarote. You access it by ferry and there are not roads at all, just tracks in the sand. So you explore it either on foot or with one of the 4WD taxis.

Day 5 - Beaches where you are staying
Today, relax where you are staying.
Day 6 - Caletones of the North coast

Caleton Blanco Lagoon
Looking for something different with calm shallow waters?
Dark rocks, white sand, dunes and turquoise water to soak and relax.
The whole area offers something completely different away from the crowds.
Take the time to explore and jump into the lagoon to cool down!
Wear good shoes, the small black lava rocks can be sharp
No facilities.
Day 7 - Beaches where you are staying
Today, relax where you are staying.
Option 4 - Best hikes of Lanzarote in 7 days
There are many wonderful hikes to enjoy in Lanzarote, especially around the volcanoes.
Here is a snapshot of an itinerary with the hikes you could enjoy each day.
Day 1 - Montana Cuervo and Montana Colorada

Montana Cuervo, also known as Caldera de los Cuervos is one of the main volcanic walks in Lanzarote (and one of the best).
You can walk all around the base of this exploded volcanic cone which is in excellent condition (and reaches 385 m/1263ft). And you can also enter it on one side thanks to a collapsed section.
The landscapes around it makes you feel like you are on another planet!
- Carpark by main road
- Free Access
- 1h45 base walk + inside (slow walking)
- Volcanic gravel path (so tiring on the calves) but generally flat walk - Wear good walking shoes
- no shade

And then you can complete with another great walk in the Volcano Natural Park.
The red mountain was the last one to erupt at the eastern end of the fault line of the Fire Mountains.
It is a fascinating area where you can learn more about the eruptions of volcanoes and their geological features (for example: the giant volcanic bomb).
- Free access
- Easy walk - sligthly uphill at two third
- 1h30 walk (going slowly)
- no shade
Day 2 - Los Rodeos

A nice walk in the middle of a sea of lava, where some parts are very impressive.
The path then follows along the mountains and climbs to offer great views of the surrounding landscapes and volcanoes.
On the second half, you walk along the abrupt end of the lava!
- Free access
- 2 hours base walk (7km)
- Add 20min return to mid-summit and longer to full summit
- Base walk has no steep slope - but steep and slippery to ascend the summit
Day 3 - Volcan de la Corona

One of the most famous volcanoes in lanzarote. It is a beautiful crater with red inside and dark grey outside.
Located in the North of the island, the hike offers stunning views of La Graciosa, the northern agricultural lands, and the coast.
- Free access
- 2h
- Easy
Day 4 - Montana Blanca

Famous long hike on a « white » caldera that is very large - Good fitness required
4WD access to carpark or longer hike.
- From the carpark, plan 3 to 4 hours of hiking
- Moderate difficulty with some elevation (and a steep section)
Day 5 - Camino de los Gracioseros

Historic hiking trail in Lanzarote that was used by the inhabitants of La Graciosa.
It runs along the cliffs of Famara with stunning views the entire time.
- 9km return
- Moderate to high: steep with some slippery sections.
Day 6 - Tremesana

If, like me, you are planning your trip early enough, you might be lucky to still be able to grab a spot on one of the rangers' Timanfaya National park walking tours.
There is no way to walk by yourself in the Timanfaya National park. Anyway there are not many walkable area because it is mostly volcanic soil that is fragile and could break under your weight if there is a tunnel. So dangerous!
However there are a couple of service roads, where walks are organized with the park rangers.
There are only a few a week and groups are limited to 8 people.
They are free but you need to provide information to get a permit and show you passport the day of the tour.
You can see the different options and book at this website: reservasparquesnacionales.es (don't worry, it is in English)
Day 7 - Papagayo Beach and Montana Roja

From Playa Blanca, in South Lanzarote, ou can first head to Papagayo.
It is a 2km walk one way going up and down with views of volcanoes on one side and stunning beaches on the other.

And then, you can go to the other end of Playa Blanca to climb Montana Roja (the red mountain, due to its colour.
It is a volcanic crater towering at 194 m (626ft).
A nice walk takes you to the top and around the rim with great views of the South end of Lanzarote.
On a clear day, you can also appreciate views of the Lobos Island and the North coast of Fuerteventura.
