In deze historische zaal werden concerten gehouden door de St Cecilia\u2019s Society, de oudste muziekvereniging van Schotland. U vindt er spinetten, klavecimbels en clavichorden uit de 16e tot en met de 19e eeuw. Wij waren vooral onder de indruk van de prachtig versierde <strong>Ruckers-klavecimbels<\/strong>. Het idee om thuis een orgel te hebben, sprak ons bijzonder aan. Deze concertzaal, <strong>gebouwd in 1763<\/strong> en inmiddels gerenoveerd, heeft haar <strong>uitzonderlijke akoestiek<\/strong> behouden, waardoor zij een ideale locatie is voor kamermuziekconcerten. Wij konden de elegantie van deze ovale zaal bewonderen, waar nog steeds <strong>hedendaagse concerten<\/strong> worden gehouden, waarmee de oorspronkelijke muzikale bestemming in een goed bewaarde historische omgeving in ere wordt gehouden.  <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Scotland\/Edinburgh\/St-Cecilias-Hall-Music-Museum\/i-4CfbPpB\/0\/KWj5sL4bLzpHPM7WLTNvnbHDp9PcSdh7hNWMmPsBf\/L\/sypert-concert-room-close-up-st-cecilia-hall-museum-L.jpg\" alt=\"St. Cecilia's Hall &amp; Muziekmuseum &#x2013; Sypert-concertzaal\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inzicht in de ontwikkeling van muziekinstrumenten door de eeuwen heen<\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De Wolfson Gallery: blaasinstrumenten, strijkinstrumenten en slagwerk in chronologische volgorde<\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De Wolfson Gallery nam ons mee op een <strong>reis door de geschiedenis van muziekinstrumenten<\/strong>. De instrumenten zijn <strong>chronologisch<\/strong> tentoongesteld. Wij waardeerden deze aanpak, waardoor wij de ontwikkeling van instrumentbouwtechnieken en muzikale smaken door de eeuwen heen konden volgen. Mis vooral de traditionele <strong>Schotse doedelzakken<\/strong> niet, evenals een opmerkelijke <strong>collectie trommels<\/strong> en percussie-instrumenten.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/photos.smugmug.com\/Scotland\/Edinburgh\/St-Cecilias-Hall-Music-Museum\/i-vJnPWLG\/0\/K6KhH5V4fMktTwDGhZB6246kvLMdbgqpgdt8s8hD4\/L\/bagpipes-st-cecilia-hall-museum-L.jpg\" alt=\"traditionele instrumenten\"\/><\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De tentoonstelling toont ook zeldzamere instrumenten <strong>,<\/strong> zoals een enorme <strong>slangencontrabas,<\/strong> een blaasinstrument met kronkelende vormen dat onze grote nieuwsgierigheid wekte. Elke vitrine vertelt het verhaal van een bepaald tijdperk en een bepaalde muziekcultuur. Aan de hand van concrete voorbeelden en toegankelijke hulpmiddelen ontdekken wij hoe samen musiceren banden smeedt.
