The architecture is a mix of Manueline and Gothic style.<br\/>I love the sharp contrast of the white limestone with the brown bricks. De er institutioner.  <br\/>Jeg foretr\u00e6kker dem i naturen, men jeg m\u00e5 indr\u00f8mme, at sv\u00e6vebanen p\u00e5 Monte er den mest praktiske. Det giver dig mulighed for nemt at bes\u00f8ge Monte-omr\u00e5det, som ligger meget h\u00f8jere over Funchal (med meget stejle veje for at n\u00e5 det).<br\/>N\u00e5r man er i Monte-omr\u00e5det, skal man ikke g\u00e5 direkte til det ber\u00f8mte Monte-palads, men tage sig tid til at g\u00e5 ind i den lille kommunale have og beundre Monte-kirken: Vor Frue af Monte-kirken og dens imponerende trapper.
